The advent of the Internet slowly gave rise to e-commerce.
Shopping can now be done easily in the comfort of one’s home.
There are many shopping sites all around the World Wide Web and one of the more popular ones is eBay.
eBay works using an auction system.
An item is advertised and users who are interested get to bid on the item.
Once the item reaches its deadline, the highest bidder gets it.
While there are items being sold at eBay for much lower than its real market price, there are still some methods that you can use in order to save money on eBay.
- Watch first, bid later – eBay has a feature called “Watch This Item”.
Clicking on it will allow you to track the progress of the item without having to do another search.
This is important if you are keen on buying and item for the lowest price.
Check the price movement of the item and decide from there if you would be bidding for it or not. - Wait for the last moment – Expert eBay users do not bid as soon as they see an item that they like.
Instead, they wait until the item posting is about to close.
If you see an item that you like with zero bids, do not bid yet.
Wait and track the item first. Also, make sure that you are online when it is about to close in order to secure the item. - Do not start a bidding war – one of the worst things that could happen with an item that you want to buy is for it to cost a whole lot more because of bidding wars that happen days before the item posting expires.
To avoid starting a bidding war, do not put up a bid immediately.
Or if someone did bid on an item already, do not try to top his bid.
Again, wait for the last moments and bid away. - Check for wrongly spelled items – a lot of cheap items goes unnoticed simply because they are wrongly spelled.
You can find good deals if you simply try to search for items with wrong spellings.
Some classic examples are “wirless” or “blutooth”.
These items are usually under the radar of most bargain hunters, so you would expect just little competition for the said items. - Buy it now button – Sometimes, sellers put up a specific price that would allow you to immediately win the item without going through auction.
If you know that the price posted as the buy it now price is well below market standards, it would probably be best to click on that button and win the item immediately.
